Our Vision: Curious learners prepared with skills to be active global citizens
Our Values: Always Learning, Always Respectful, Always Safe
Our Motto: 'a better place to be'
On Monday 24 January, 1983, Browns Plains State School opened its door with 249 students, 13 classroom teachers, 1 librarian, a part time physical education teacher and a pre-school teacher. The first principal was Mr Dave Gray.
Our school was once considered remote; but now, we are part of a spreading metropolis with highways, main roads and expanding housing estates surrounding us. Today there are four prep classes in new facilities with enrolments being sought twelve months ahead. We have a designated STEM hub and are aiming to be our Cluster Schools STEM leader. We also have a music block and instrumental program with a wide variety of instruments taught and played. Our tuckshop facility was constructed after the school's opening and operates three days a week. The library was doubled in size many years ago with an additional teaching space. In 2012 the School Hall was completed and officially opened. An Out of School Hours Care Program operates before and after school on week days and during vacation periods.
Enrolments are now around 600 students from prep to year 6 and an addition number of children who access our ECDP (Early Years Development Program). There are over 50 teachers on staff, including a Technologies teacher, specialist LOTE, physical education, music and support teachers (inclusion program and differentiation), a guidance officer and other support staff. Our current principal is Mr Keith Poulter.
