Browns Plains State School is proud of our school's sporting fields. Our large oval and small oval are used daily by students from Year 3 – Year 6 at both first and second break. They are also used by all classes during HPE lessons as needed.
The large oval can be marked for specific sporting events. Our two most popular sports the oval currently used for are touch football and soccer.
Each year the large oval is used for our Athletics and Tabloids Day. These events are open to families of enrolled students which helps to create a fantastic supportive environment for our houses of Curry, Boyle and Decastella.
The small oval has a purpose built cricket pitch and the space for two touch football fields. It is often used leading up to Gala Days for training in football (soccer), rugby league and touch football.
Our outdoor basketball court is situated near the public car park at the northern end of the small oval. Plans to resurface and upgrade these courts are currently underway.
We recently signed a Joint Development Agreement with the Logan City Council and Mets Junior Rugby Union Club for a ten year use of the ovals for training and competition sports. We are delighted to partner with this community club and support our community. In 2021 we opened a purpose built clubhouse that includes amenities, change rooms and canteen. The oval will also have lighting allowing us to extend the hours of usage.
